ABOUT JENNIFER THAMES
Growing up in Newton, Mississippi, art was always a passion for me. My family always encouraged my artistic abilities. As I grew, I used whatever I had for my “latest creation”. After my training to be an art teacher, I returned to my hometown to do my student teaching under my high school teacher and mentor. I taught for 14 years in the Newton City Schools. Currently, I am still teaching. I work with The Mississippi Department of Mental Health at CMRC in Newton. While dabbling in almost every medium, I started beading and making jewelry. After many years, I still enjoy looking for a “perfect” item to complete a piece of jewelry. Some of my favorite pieces are One of a Kind (OOAK), these are generally made with found treasures and are always limited edition, no two are exactly alike. In trying to duplicate items for re-sale, most of our items are new pieces that have been “antiqued”. A few of my favorite things are old time, vintage signs, tattered lace, old rhinestones, religious and war medals.
Jennifer Thames Originals is a family oriented business that was created in 2005. My husband, Kirk, does all the stamping and oxidizing of the Ya-Ya line. All three of my children, Kirby, 18, Wilkins, 13, and Olivia, 11, have worked in different aspects of the company. We offer unique, hand made jewelry with a vintage flair. Striving to keep prices within reach and customer service with a smile!
